Research project

We are studying the mechanism of action of gene-repair enzymes and catalytic RNAs with NMR spectroscopy and enzymological analyses. Regarding the gene-repair enzyme, human 8-oxoguanine glycosylase (hOGG1) has been studied since its loss of function is deeply related with cancer. Next, regarding catalytic RNAs, hammerhead ribozyme has been studied to explore the chemical origin of life. Now, the chemical pathways of proteineous and RNA enzymes are underway.
